1st Paola Galeazzi International Yacht Design Contest | A boat that does not exist, but is buildable , Meda / Italien

 

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Barche magazine, the publishing house International Sea Press is holding a competition to award scholarships to those who submit a design for a boat, which doesn’t exist yet but is actually buildable. The competition will be dedicated to Paola Galeazzi, an architect who left an important legacy in the world of modern nautical design and architecture. Paola Galeazzi was a careful interpreter of the equation of form and function, to which she added an ethical afflatus, becoming herself a point of reference for all young designers. The competition will have an international nature and will be open to anyone under 35 years of age. The Panel of Judges for this award will be composed of eminent figures in the field of nautical design and planning. The President of the Panel will be the Architect, Professor Giovanni Zuccon, co-founder with Paola Galeazzi of the Zuccon International Project. The other names will be revealed together with the announcement of the winners.

 

The competition aims to promote creativity in the field of boat design by catalysing the realization of exemplary projects that can combine the themes of sustainability in its different articulations.

 

The competition proposes the following themes for design reflection to competitors:

– Typological innovation and morphology of the boat

– Original aesthetic appearance of the boat

– Methodology and typology of construction

– Energy and environmental quality aspects

 

The purpose of the competition is to design a recreational boat, sail, motor boat or motor sailer from 10 to 40 meters length.

 

The competition is open to anyone who is under 35 years of age on the closing day of registration.
