Objective
The objective of this competition is to inspire architects, designers, and visionaries to redefine the concept of a home for the 22nd century. Participants are tasked with creating innovative, sustainable, and adaptable designs that reflect the future of residential living in the year 2125.
The Building Programme
Participants will design a residential dwelling that:
• Accommodates the needs of a 22nd-century family, including essential spaces such as living areas, bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and any additional functions required for a futuristic home.
• Incorporates cutting-edge technologies, automation, and spaces promoting family well-being and connectivity.
• Emphasizes adaptability, catering to evolving societal and environmental needs.
Site
Participants are free to select their own site. This could range from urban to suburban, rural, or entirely speculative environments reflecting futuristic possibilities. A detailed analysis of the site’s geographical, climatic, and topographical conditions, along with contextual influences, is required.
Design Flexibility
The competition encourages out-of-the-box thinking. Participants are free to experiment with architectural styles, materials, and spatial configurations. Designs should balance creativity with practicality and functionality, creating homes that are both visionary and liveable
Sustainability
Sustainability is a cornerstone of this competition. Designs must prioritize:
• Environmental responsibility: Incorporate renewable energy, water conservation, and eco-friendly materials.
• Energy efficiency: Minimize the carbon footprint of the home.
• Climate resilience: Include features that adapt to changing environmental conditions.
• Holistic living: Promote sustainable lifestyles through thoughtful design.
Project Proposal Requirements
Submissions must include the following:
• Conceptual Design: Comprehensive architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and sections.
• Sustainability and Environmental Considerations: Details on energy-efficient features, renewable energy sources, waste management, and eco-friendly materials.
• Innovation and Technology: Description of integrated smart solutions and their impact on future living experiences.
• Site Analysis: Comprehensive data and analysis of the selected site, highlighting its influence on the design.
• Renderings and Visualizations: High-quality visualizations showcasing the design’s aesthetics and functionality.
• Narrative: An inspiring narrative explaining the design’s concept, inspiration, and how it addresses the needs of a 22nd-century family.
• Design Statement: A concise summary of the key features and innovations in the proposed design.
