Wettbewerbsaufgabe
Der Kaira Looro Architekturwettbewerb ist ein für Studenten und junge Architekten offener Designwettbewerb, der neue Talente entdecken und nachhaltige Architekturmodelle für humanitäre Zwecke zur Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen in Entwicklungsländern einführen soll. Den Gewinnern, die von einer internationalen Jury aus renommierten Architekturbüros ausgewählt werden, winken Geldpreise, Praktika und Bauprojekte.

Die Aufgabe für die Ausgabe 2024 besteht darin, ein „Mutterschaftszentrum“ im Süden von Senegal zu entwerfen. Gesucht wird eine Einrichtung, in der sich Frauen sicher fühlen können, in der sie die notwendige medizinische Versorgung erhalten und in der optimale sanitäre Bedingungen und qualifiziertes medizinisches Personal vorhanden sind.

Ziel dieses Wettbewerbs ist es, einen architektonischen Entwurf für ein Mutterschaftszentrum auszuwählen, das medizinische Versorgung während der gesamten Schwangerschaft bietet. Gesucht wird ein innovatives Modell - ein symbolträchtiger, gemütlicher und professioneller Ort, an dem sich jede Frau sicher fühlen kann. Das Gebäude muss als humanitäre Maßnahme und zum Selbstbau konzipiert sein, d.h. ohne qualifiziertes Personal oder Baufirmen, mit direkter Beteiligung der lokalen Gemeinschaft, ohne Einsatz schwerer Fahrzeuge und mit nachhaltigen Technologien und lokalen Materialien.

The challenge of 2024's edition is to design a ‘Maternity Centre’ in Southern of Senegal. We are looking for a ‘Maternity Centre’ facility where women can feel safe, receive essential medical care, and enjoy optimal sanitary conditions as well as the presence of qualified medical staff.

The objective of this competition is to select an architectural design for a Maternity Centre, offering healthcare throughout pregnancy. We are looking for an innovative model – an emblematic, cosy and professional place where every woman can feel safe. The building must be designed as a humanitarian operation and for self-construction, i.e., without qualified personnel or construction companies, with the direct participation of the local community, without the use of heavy vehicles, and with sustainable technologies and local materials.
