Wettbewerbsaufgabe
UNESCO führt in enger Abstimmung mit dem irakischen Kulturministerium und der irakischen Sunni-Stiftung und mit Unterstützung der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate einen internationalen Design-Wettbewerb zur Auswahl eines Siegerentwurfs für den Wiederaufbau und die Sanierung des Al Nouri-Komplexes in Mosul durch. Der internationale Design-Wettbewerb für dieses Projekt begann am 16. November 2020 und möchte Einreichungen von einer Vielzahl von Architekten oder Teams von Architekten und Ingenieuren aus der ganzen Welt dazu bringen, einen Design-Vorschlag für den Wiederaufbau und die Sanierung des Al Nouri Komplexes einzureichen.

Dieser architektonische Planungswettbewerb hat zwei Hauptkomponenten: die Sanierung des Al Nouri Moschee-Komplexes und den Wiederaufbau der Al Nouri Gebetshalle.

Die Sanierung des Al-Nouri-Moschee-Komplexes erfordert einen konzeptionellen Entwurf für den Bau neuer Gebäude mit unterschiedlichen Funktionen, die Sanierung aller drei historischen Gebäude und deren Integration in die neuen Entwürfe sowie die landschaftsplanerische Gestaltung des gesamten Geländes. Durch die Schaffung neuer Räume, die der Gemeinde gewidmet sind - für Bildung, soziale und kulturelle Aktivitäten - sieht das Projekt einen Raum vor, der der Gemeinde über ihre religiöse Hauptfunktion hinaus dient.

Der Wiederaufbau der Al Nouri Gebetshalle erfordert ein Konzept für die Erhaltung der verbleibenden Struktur der Gebetshalle und ihre Integration in das neue Gebäude, das eine Rekonstruktion der Gebetshalle ist, wie sie 2017 vor ihrer absichtlichen Zerstörung war.

Competition assignment
UNESCO, in close coordination with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and the Iraqi Sunni Endowment and the support of the United Arab Emirates, is administering an international design competition for selecting a winning design entry for the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of the Al Nouri complex in Mosul. The international design competition for this project started on 16th November 2020 and wishes to attract submissions from a wide range of architects or teams of architects and engineers from around the world to submit a design proposal for reconstructing and rehabilitating the Al Nouri complex.

This architectural design project competition has two main components: the rehabilitation of the Al Nouri Mosque Complex and the reconstruction of the Al Nouri Prayer Hall.

The rehabilitation of the Al Nouri Mosque Complex calls for a conceptual design for the construction of new buildings with diverse functions, the rehabilitation of all three of its historical buildings and their inte-gration into the new designs, and the landscaping design of the entire site. By creating new spaces dedicat-ed to the community – for education, social and cultural activities – the project envisions a space to serve the community beyond its principal religious function.

The reconstruction of the Al Nouri Prayer Hall calls for a conceptual design for conserving the remaining standing structure of the prayer hall and its integration into the new building, which is a reconstruction of the prayer hall as it was in 2017 before its intentional destruction.
