Das Site Monastery ist ein Ort der Einsamkeit und Kontemplation, ein abgeschiedener Raum für innere Besinnlichkeit und eine Plattform für Meditation. Die Ruhe und Stille innerhalb der Klostermauern und die kraftvolle Naturkulisse bieten ein tiefes und eindringendes Erlebnis in einer friedvollen Atmosphäre.

Dieser internationale einstufige Architektur-Ideenwettbewerb lädt alle Architekturstudenten, junge Architekten und junge Berufstätige mit einem abgeschlossenen Architekturstudium (≤ 40 Jahre alt) ein, überzeugende Ideen für den Entwurf eines Klosters an der Festung São Domingos da Baralha in Cape Espichel, Portugal, zu entwickeln und einzureichen.

Die Festung São Domingos da Baralha ist ein historisches Wahrzeichen an einem bemerkenswerten Ort, einer mächtigen Naturkulisse, in der die Überreste der Festung und die steilen Klippen markante Merkmale in dieser Umgebung sind.

Bei der Entwicklung einer Vision für eine Intervention an einem so spektakulären Ort ist es von entscheidender Bedeutung, dass jeder Designvorschlag den Ort und die vorhandenen Ruinen betont, respektiert und feiert und gleichzeitig ein einzigartiges und unvergessliches Erlebnis bietet.

Competition assignment
The Site Monastery is a place of solitude and contemplation, a secluded space for inner reflection and a platform for meditation. The quietness and stillness within monastic walls and the powerful natural scenery provide a profound and immersive experience within a serene atmosphere.

This international one-stage architecture ideas competition invites all architecture students, young architects and young professionals with a degree in architecture studies (≤ 40 years old) to develop and submit compelling ideas for the design of a Site Monastery located at the São Domingos da Baralha Fortress, in Cape Espichel, Portugal.

The São Domingos da Baralha Fortress is a historical landmark located within a remarkable place, a powerful natural scenery where the remains of the Fortress and the steep cliffs are prominent features within this setting.

When generating a vision for an intervention located within such a spectacular place, it is essential that each design proposal emphasises, respects and celebrates the site and existing ruins, while providing a unique and memorable experience.
