Wettbewerbsaufgabe/Competition assignment
The World Village of Women Sports is a private initiative and encompasses a multifunctional complex of around 100.000 m2, with an international research, development and training centre as well as attractive office space and housing. In totat, 2 billion Swedish Kronor shall be invested in the property.
The assignment is the conceptualisation of a research, development and inspiration centre for women sport and pertaining concept premises including offices and apartments at Hösthagen’s sports arena in Malmö
The challenge for the architects is, within the land allotment programme, to find a well-functioning development structure that fulfils the requirements of the programme while beatuifying
the city landscape.
The World Village of Women Sports will be a multifunctional facility and a centre for the development of women‘s sports.
Much of the development will be open and accessible to the public.
The local prgramme comprises of the following facilities:
- Football hall with international pitch dimensions, warm up areas, & running tracks, seats for around 5.000 people, a press centre, restaurants, etc.
- A research centre for education, tests, sports medicine, etc.
- Rehab/health-centre with a gym, pool, etc
- Seminar and conference facilities for 1.000 people
- Housing - an extensive offering of apartments, hotel and category housing
- Shops, restaurants and ohter services
- Underground car park with around 500 parking lots
- Offices for Malmö University and the Sydsvenskan newspaper group, among others
