Wettbewerbsaufgabe
Der internationale Wettbewerb zur Entwicklung eines Parks im Zaryadye Bezirk im Herzen Moskaus ist eines der größten Projekte der letzten Jahrzehnte in der Stadt. Das Zaryadye Gebiet befindet sich in nächster Nähe zum Roten Platz, umfasst 52.609 m² und liegt seit mehr als 6 Jahren, seitdem das Hotel Rossija abgerissen und das Gelände abgeriegelt wurde, brach. Dieses riesige Gebiet soll nun in einen Park umgewandelt werden mit einer Entwicklungsund Planungsstrategie für einen übergreifenden städteplanerischen Teil und Entwürfen für bauliche Elemente im Park. Ferner sollen Standort, Größe und Volumenbedarf für ein Philharmoniegebäude und ein Hotel ermittelt werden. Der historische Zaryadye Bezirk verbindet den Kreml, den Roten Platz, das Flussufer und die Altstadt Moskaus.
Der Park soll sich harmonisch in diese Umgebung einfügen und ein Besucheraufkommen von ca 15.000 Personen täglich bewältigen. Eine Aussichtsplattform auf die umliegende Stadtlandschaft soll zur Hauptattraktion des Parks werden. Da der Park zur Zeit nicht direkt mit dem Flussufer verbunden ist, ist die Einbindung des Flusses in die Parklandschaft und der Entwurf einer zentralen Anlegestelle ein Hauptanliegen des Wettbewerbs. Im Entwurf sollen das Hotel, direkt am Nordosten des Parks, für 100-150 Gäste, das 20.000 m² große Philharmoniegebäude mit 1.500 Sitzen, für das der beste Standort ermittelt werden soll, und eine Tiefgarage mit 500 Stellplätzen vorgesehen werden. Alle Gebäude im Park sollen eine Bauhöhe von 20 m nicht überschreiten.
Entlang des Ufers soll ein Multifunktionskomplex mit Cafés, Restaurants, kleinen Pavillons, Ausstellungsräumen und technische und sanitäre Anlagen geschaffen werden. Die natürliche Hügellandschaft im Zaryadye Park dient auch der phasenweisen Entwicklung, die selbst zur Touristenattraktion werden soll. Ein wichtiges Element ist die ganzjährige Nutzung, so sollen z.B. die Hügel in den Wintermonaten als Schlittenhang und im Sommer als Spazierweg genutzt werden.
Competition assignment
The international competition for a park in Zaryadye district is the most ambitious project for the last decades in Moscow. The site in the very heart of Moscow near the Kremlin comprises 13 acres and has laid idle for over 6 years since the demolition of Hotel Russia. A landscape architecture concept shall be developed for a contemporary park, buildings and structures, underground parking for 500 cars and to determine the location and size of a Philharmonic building with 20.000 m² and 1.500 seats and a hotel for up to 150 guests. The park shall be integrated in the urban context and should be able to cope with approx. 15.000 visitors daily. A viewing point for the surrounding cityscape shall become one of the main attractions. Integrating the waterfront area into the park landscape and the design of a central pier are one of the competition’s main requirements. A multifunctional complex with cafés, restaurants, small pavillons, and exhibition spaces shall be developed along the waterfront. The natural slopes in the park provide an ideal setting for the development in stages. Maintaining year-round activity in the park is important, e.g. sledging slopes in the winter and walking paths in the summer.

The Moscow city government invites Russian and international teams of landscape architects, architects and urban planners to take part in a competition to design and develop a park in Zaryadye, located in close vicinity to the Kremlin in the very heart of Moscow.
AIM
The aim of this competition is to develop an architecture and landscaping design concept that will form the basis for the creation of a contemporary park with a high quality infrastructure that will be open for the public all year round.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are inviting architects, landscape architects and urban planners, who can bring together multidisciplinary teams of specialists in the fields of engineering, management of public spaces, entertainment industry, cultural programming, economy, sociology, anthropology, dendrology, ecology and wildlife management.

COMPETITION FORMAT
This is an international two-stage competition.
Stage 1: Pre-qualification stage — six teams will be selected to participate in the second stage.
Stage 2: Concept competition — selection of the winner and the finalists (second and third places).
MAIN DATES
Until May 22: receiving and registering applications.
17 June: Shortlist of six teams for the second stage to be announced.
1 July – 27 September: Shortlisted candidates developing their projects.
1 November – 12 November: Winner to be selected.

The electronic application form should be uploaded to the competition website, under My application section. Printed application forms (three copies) should be sent to the address: 14, bldg. 5A, Bersenevskaya Embankment, Moscow, 119072, Russia.
When applications are sent by post or courier service, submissions are considered filed on time if: application is submitted to a post office (with date stamp as a proof) or delivery service no later than 18:00 Moscow time 22 May 2013, and is received no later than 18:00 Moscow time 29 May 2013.
